We had our house designed by Gary in 1998. It was on our dream piece of land, and was going to be the home of our dreams. It was also the first house that we had built, so you can understand the nervousness and trepidation we felt in the early stages.
From just a few broad guidelines and feelings, Gary conjured up a wonderful design that captured not only the essence of what we wanted, but fitted the environment and contoured into the surrounding area magnificently.
The flow of the house has been brilliant. We will always be able to change the atmosphere and décor as the family grows, but having a house with flow was key. Functionally it has worked extremely well, and we are very pleased with the results.
One of the main benefits in using Gary was his ability to show us the house before we built it. The ability to see a computer model, take walk throughs, and experiment with colour schemes was fantastic. This is especially useful if you have trouble turning drawings into 3 dimensions mentally (as I do). Many a fun night was spent trying different colour schemes on the computer to see what fitted best.
Gary’s advice on many aspects other than pure design has also been a pleasant surprise. His ideas on the kitchen, colours, and exterior finish made the myriad of decisions much easier.
Gary has been easy to work with, and is skilled in both listening and offering suggestions to bring out what best suits the most important people us.
Overall we have been very happy with the house, the process, the assistance, and the service we have received. I guess a key test is if the house burnt down, we would re-build it exactly the same as Gary designed it.
I can thoroughly recommend Gary to anyone who is wanting to build a house, who wants to do it once and do it right, who wants to make the process easier and less stressful, and is keen to get an excellent result. I am happy to be contacted if anyone wants to ask questions.
